Battery life is a very important aspect people look at when choosing a laptop. Laptop computers having longer battery life will cost more. However, you can extend your laptop battery life by doing a few simple things.
Read the following advices you can apply in order to get a longer battery life from your laptop:
Defragment Your Hard Drive:
If your hard drive is fragmented, this intensifies the disk seeks which will take off some seconds while the computer is reading the data you’re looking for. If the disk work is intensified, the drive will take more energy from your laptop battery. To prevent this writing / reading time delays, you have to defragment your hard drive regularly.
Display Brightness:
Maybe the biggest energy drain on a laptop battery is the display. The brighter your display will be, the shorter your battery life. When using the laptop on the battery power, be sure you slow down the backlight of the laptop display to increase your battery life. If you set the brightness at 60% or lower, this will drastically improve the battery life.
Increase The RAM Memory:
If you are going to run lots of intensive applications while working on battery, then you can choose to add some more RAM to lower the use of virtual memory from your drive.
Turn Off Unused Features:
Do not use extra features of your laptop if you are not using them. If you are not using the Internet, be sure to turn off your WiFi adapter to increase the laptop battery life. The same can be applied with the Bluetooth feature.
Applications:
Try to close any extra running applications that you are not using. If too many programs are running in the background, the more CPU and RAM resources will be used, thus, draining more energy from your battery. Keep an eye on the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and monitor and close any programs that you are not using. This will greatly improve the battery life of your laptop.
Power-Saver:
Most laptop computers have a Power-Saver setting. This, if turned on, will lower your CPU’s clock speed making your laptop slower in operations, but will greatly improve the battery life. You can access the battery and power settings in Windows, in the control panel.
