ASUS and MSI Announcing Apple iPad Rivals

ASUS and MSI showcased today at the Computex show in Taipei their tablet computers. This will be direct competition for the Apple’s iPad. The new tablets will run with Microsoft’s Windows 7 and customized user interfaces.

The ASUS Eee Pads come in two designs: a 12-inch model, the EP121, and a 10-inch model, the EP101TC. ASUS confirmed the EP121 is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and some of the features are: HDMI video output, SD card reader, USB port and Webcam.

The battery will last for approximately 10-hour, same as the the Apple’s iPad. No pricing details are known yet about the EP101TC, but the EP121 is expected to be around $499. The new tablets are expected to arrive late this year.

MSI also presented the WindPad 100, a 10-inch Windows 7 powered tablet, equipped with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM and a 32GB SSD hard disk. The WindPad is also expected later this year for around $499.

MSI also presented another tablet computer – the WindPad 110, which runs with Google’s Android OS, stil, other details are not know at this moment.

I just can’t wait for in-hand reviews of both tablets, it seems that the iPad is under assault and later this year we’ll see wich tablet performs the best.
