How to Choose a Laptop or Notebook Computer

Buying and using a laptop computer can be a great experience. A laptop will give you the ability to take your digital information wherever you go, you can take your work to a class, on vacation, at any coffee shop and practically everywhere you wish.

Today, most of the laptops are much more powerful than a desktop computer of yesterday. A laptop is much lighter and much more stylish. A lot of people nowadays are choosing a laptop over a desktop computer to use it in all their digital activities.

Choose The Laptop Screen Size:

If you are used to work on large monitors then you may need a laptop with a larger screen. You may consider buying an 17″ screen laptop, this will be more expensive than the 15″ screen size ones, but will surely worth the investment. Some laptop models features even 19″ or 20″ screens. Also, some models offers wide screen displays, so, if you like to watch movies and / or view high definition images, then this may be the laptop for you.

Choose The Connectivity and Networking Features:

Most of the laptops today comes with a wireless network adapter, but there are some exceptions. If you need to have Internet on the go (you can connect to the Internet wherever there is a hotspot Internet signal, whether this it’s paid or free), or if you want to get rid of the extra connection cables from your house or office, then be sure to choose a laptop with a built in wireless capability.

Also, the Bluetooth option will let you share information easily with other Bluetooth-enabled devices, like your cell phone or other digital media devices.

Check the laptop for at least two USB 2.0 ports and one Firewire connection. USB 2.0 and Firewire connections are very spread these days and are the best ways to connect your laptop to other digital media devices.

Find Your Battery Life Needs:

If you will be taking your laptop on a lot of trips or on locations where there is no electrical outlets, you may need a laptop with a battery that lasts longer than usual. Most of the laptops comes with a standard battery which runs only an hour or maybe two, if you will use the laptop away from a electrical outlet a lot, make sure that your laptop is able to run at least a few hours on its battery.
